Annual Shad Outing Sat. Jan 28

Our outing this month is for Shad in the Upper St. Johns River.

Meet at the TA truck stop on CR 210 and I -95 at 7 am. Head south from there.

It's a 2-hour ride to the ramp at C.S. Lee Park on SR 46. We'll have the grill for the usual lunch fare. If anyone is going with a boat we will grill out on the Econ, if not we will meet back at the ramp parking lot around 12-noon.

The fishing has been very good. Mike Head caught 30 shad on the fly last Sunday. Get back to me, Mike Harrigan, if you have room in your vehicle or if you needa ride with another club member, maharrigan2@yahoo.com.

First Coast Fly Fishers, FCFF, is family-oriented fly fishing club dedicated to promoting the sport of fly fishingfly fishing education and resource awareness.  Come to a monthly meeting -- you'll see why we consistently are rated among the top fly fishing clubs on the East Coast.

Meetings, dates and speakers are listed on the meetings page.  We meet at 7 p.m. in the Southpoint Marriott Hotel, 4670 Salisbury Rd (intersection of I-95 and J. Turner Butler), Jacksonville, Florida.  Come early, if we have enough light, David Lambert, Dick Michaelson, and Rich Santos give free casting lessons at the hotel pond.  Don Reed and others teach fly tying in the winter months.

Guests are always welcome.  Our members participate in monthly outings as well as free fly tying lessons, casting clinics, family days, classes, and seminars throughout the year.

Our year-end FCFF Banquet Weekend is a full two-day affair where we bring in a world-renowned fly fisher as our guest speaker and clinic instructor.

On banquet night we offer a great meal, an nationally prominent fly fishing oriented speaker, and literally thousands of dollars worth of raffle and silent auction items -- fly fishing merchandise, guided trips, clinics, and related items.

Family memberships cost $100 per year. Youth memberships are free.  For more information, contact membership chair Seth Nehrke email.
